Hartman Walsh was contracted by Garco to perform the coating work for the Manchester Fuel Tank Farm Improvement Project in Manchester, Washington.

The project involved the complete interior and exterior coating of two 146-foot diameter by 56-foot tall fuel storage tanks and 2,000 linear feet of 12-inch piping. The project was completed in 2023.

Scope of Work

Scope of Work

The scope of work for the exterior tank and piping included surface preparation to SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2 Near-White Blast Cleaning, and application of a three-coat coating system consisting of Sherwin Williams Macropoxy 646 Fast Cure Epoxy Zinc Primer, Macropoxy 646 Fast Cure Epoxy Intermediate Coat, and Acrolon 218 HS Polyurethane Finish Coat. The total dry film thickness (DFT) of the exterior coating system was 12-16 mils.

The scope of work for the interior tank included surface preparation to SSPC-SP 5/NACE No. 1 White Metal Blast Cleaning, and application of a two-coat coating system consisting of Premier Coatings PCS 1100 Tank Liner at 12-15 mils DFT per coat. The interior coating system was designed to provide corrosion protection and chemical resistance for the storage of jet fuel.
